Healthy Minds GC is presented by Florio.

We’re on a mission to improve the mental health and wellbeing of everyone in golf.

1 in 4 people experience mental ill health every year.

Here's the thing about mental health: it affects everyone. Including golfers.

That stat means more than sixteen million golfers globally (and around 1.4 million in the UK) are dealing with the same stuff as everyone else.

That's why Florio exists.

To help golfers look after their heads as intentionally as they look after their swings.

To make golf a place where people can actually talk about their mental health without feeling like they’ve stumbled into a group meditation by mistake.

1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem every year.

What We Do

We make mental health feel part of everyday life in golf.

We normalise it. Mental health is just part of life, like your handicap or the weather. Worth paying attention to, easy to talk about.

We educate. Most people want to help when a mate’s struggling. They just need a bit of direction. We show what to look for and how to start that chat without it turning awkward.

We create practical tools. Guides, conversation starters, resources that work in real situations. No jargon, no wellness speak, just useful stuff.

We signpost properly. When someone needs extra support, we provide links to trusted organisations and professionals. Quick. Safe. Clear.

Everything lives on Healthy Minds GC, our online hub built for golfers who want to understand their mental health without needing a psychology degree to do it.

Clinically Backed.
Human First.

Everything we do is grounded in clinical evidence and guided by our Lead Clinical Advisor, Dr. Ed Clark, a consultant psychiatrist with experience on the DP World Tour.

We translate proven psychological approaches into language and tools that make sense for golfers. Every guide, conversation, and campaign follows clinical best practice, reviewed for accuracy, safety, and impact.

The goal is to make mental health support credible, useful, and easy to find.

Clinically backed.
Actually useful.

We have big plans

We’re working with golf clubs across the UK to build real mental health support into club culture.

Think training for staff and members who want to help. Resources that don’t gather dust in a committee drawer. Ways to make checking in as normal as asking about someone's round.

The aim is simple. Golf clubs that feel human. Places where people notice each other, talk properly, and check in before things go too far.

Danny's Story

Danny has spent most of his life in golf.

The son of a PGA professional. College golf in the U.S. A master’s at St Andrews. A career in learning and consulting. From the outside, it all looked steady.

Behind the scenes, he was fighting depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts.

For a long time, he said and did nothing. Eventually, therapy helped. Medication helped. Getting life back into shape helped.

But the missing piece was conversation - the honest kind.

Then one day, on the golf course, he finally talked. And to his surprise, his mates did too. Those chats stuck.

Since then, he has spoken with and interviewed hundreds of golfers. And what he’s realised is this: every golfer’s got a story. They just need space and permission to share it.

That’s how Florio Golf was born.
