Rikki Hatherly’s a 37-year-old dad from Portsmouth who’s had a few proper resets in life. After a long relationship ended, he moved back in with his parents. Nights out got a lot more frequent, weeks blurred together, and alcohol became more frequent.
Then he met his now wife. Things started to shift. Slower weekends, steadier habits, a reason to be home. Somewhere in that mix, life started to rebuild itself.
A few years later, when Covid hit, he picked up golf. It wasn’t deep, just a few hours of quiet to get away from the stresses of Covid. But it stuck. He found calm in the structure, and a bit of space from everything else.
That’s where ForeHeads Golf came from - an Instagram account created with the aim of raising awareness for men's mental health through golf. It’s Rikki’s way of mixing humour, golf, and proper conversation. The kind that sneaks up between bad shots and shared laughs.
Rikki’s story shows that getting back on track usually starts quietly. A few smaller choices that change how a week feels. Nights that end earlier. Weekends that leave you clearer.
He went from heartbreak and hangovers to something steadier. Met someone who grounded him. Built a family. Found golf during Covid and used it as a way to get space when everything else felt tight.
Now he runs ForeHeads Golf, mixing humour, sport and honest conversation. It’s proof that progress doesn’t need to be dramatic. It just needs to keep moving.
